Patience, Tolerance and Keeping the Faith

I have come to learn and believe that one of the best qualities one can have is the ability to have patience. Once I am able to accept that there are things in life that are simply outside of my control, I find that I am able to be more at peace in knowing that the universe has a bigger plan for me than I had originally had for myself. Have patience and faith in the fact that things will work out as they’re destined to!

I have learned that being in the entertainment industry is not only a test of your talent, but also a test of your patience. A common saying in this industry is “hurry up and wait” and I can tell you that it’s hugely accurate! Whether we’re rushing to get ready for a 2PM shooting time and don’t end up shooting until 5PM or we rush to submit an audition tape and don’t hear back for weeks, it is, unfortunately, the nature of the business! While it may be aggravating, it’s important that we try our best to have patience and practice tolerance.

As an actress, I am constantly preparing for new roles and I am always thinking about ways I can improve my skill and further my career. I am so committed to my passion and bettering myself that it’s all I think about!  I sometimes need to remind myself to be patient with my career and realize that I’m doing all that I can to further it. Some things are simply not within my control, regardless of how much I’d like them to be! I believe that there’s a higher power, which I personally call God, who has a bigger plan for me and for everybody. I know that all I can do is try my hardest and be the best person that I can be, and the rest will happen according to this “bigger plan.”

I believe that everyone feels this anxiousness when there’s something that they are really passionate about accomplishing. You can do all you can to set yourself up for success, but then you’re sometimes left at the mercy of others and how they choose to respond to your efforts. It’s important to practice patience and tolerance to those around you, regardless of how difficult and trying it may be! We’ll never understand all of the struggles the people around us are facing and we can’t expect their worlds to revolve around ours just as they can’t expect our worlds to revolve around them. We should take these trying times to learn about ourselves and reflect on how we react to certain situations.

All that we have in this life are our experiences and there is so much we can learn from them! Our experiences make up who we are and we can use these experiences to better prepare ourselves for the future and improve ourselves. There is most definitely a lesson hidden within all of our experiences. It’s up to us to find them, learn from them and better ourselves!

We can only control our actions, not the actions of others, so I believe it’s important to treat others how you’d wish to be treated. Good energy is contagious, just as bad energy is contagious! We have to take responsibility for our own actions and accept that not everything that we hope to achieve is 100% in our power.  Have faith in what you believe in, whether it’s a Higher Power or simply destiny. The most we can do with anything in life is try our best!

We are not judged by how people respond to our efforts, we are judged on how we respond to the actions of others. Take notice of the energy you put out into the world! Is that an energy that you yourself would want to be surrounded by? Try your best to practice patience and tolerance and have faith that everything will work out as it’s meant to!

We’re all humans. We make mistakes and that’s ok! Sometimes we lose our patience when things don’t go as we’d hoped or on the schedule that we’d have preferred. When you find yourself reacting poorly to a situation, take a step back to reflect on yourself and why you lost your patience. The better understanding that you have of yourself, the better prepared you’ll be for handling these trying situations in the future! Be mindful of how you make others feel. This will be your legacy and it costs nothing to be nice and, as the saying goes, “you get more with honey than with vinegar!”

At the end of the day, as long as we are working hard on improving ourselves and for the things that are within our control, we should be content and feel peace within ourselves and let our higher being do the rest! We can’t control the actions of others; we just need to practice patience, even when it hurts!

I know how it feels to want something so badly that you put your entire being into achieving or getting it. I know how it feels to work around the clock because that’s how much it means to you. And I know how it feels to be at the mercy of others and have to practice patience. I have learned firsthand that when you are confident that you’ve done all that you can for something, it is easier to practice patience. Doing all that you’re capable of and leaving the rest to fate and destiny is all that we can do in life! Hard work pays off, both mentally and physically, and if we learn from our experiences then we’re doing all that we can! I wish you all patience and confidence in chasing your dreams. Find peace in knowing that right now, you are exactly where you’re destined to be. Make your next move one that will better yourself and lead you closer down the path of chasing your dreams. XO
