A Weekend of Winning At The Florida SuperCon!

This weekend I was fortunate enough to help promote my upcoming feature film “Caesar and Otto’s Paranormal Halloween” at the Florida SuperCon in Miami! I had such an amazing time meeting some awesome “Caesar and Otto” fans and other people in the industry and the icing on the cake was when we found out that our movie had won an award! After all of the hard work I had put into preparing for this movie, seeing one of my first feature films being watched by a crowd of people was one of the proudest and most surreal moments of my life to date!  If you have never been to a “Comic Con” then I definitely recommend you go to at least one! It was such a fun experience!

As I walked around the convention center at the Florida SuperCon I was amazed and overjoyed with seeing just how dedicated fans are to the movies they love! I saw so many people of all ages dressed up as their favorite characters and it brought so much joy to my heart! I love seeing people expressing their passions and I loved getting to experience my first comic con while representing a movie that I am so proud to have been a part of!

One of my favorite parts of the whole Florida Super Con experience was seeing the fans’ reaction to the film. As you may have read in my previous blogs, I pour my heart and soul into each project I am fortunate enough to be a part of. For this film especially, I worked very hard on bringing authenticity to the very low places that my character, “Kyla the chef,” had to go. Seeing the viewers squirming in their seats while I was on the screen in my darkest moments brought me such a thrill and a huge sense of accomplishment! Those were the exact emotions I was looking to give them and seeing the fans laughing and enjoying the movie really did make me so proud to be a part of that! Seeing my hard work come to life on screen was so fulfilling for me and I can’t wait for the movie’s official premier in October!

After both screenings I got to participate in a Q&A Panel with the writer/director, Dave Campfield, and one of the other actresses from the film, The Lovely JoJo. It was so much fun getting to answer questions from the fans after they got to watch the movie and hearing their questions almost brought me to tears! One fan asked me how I was able to get to such a deep and dark place and make it believable. After all of the hard work I had done, this was the best question anyone could have asked me! After the Q&A Panel some fans stuck around to congratulate me on my performance and the movie which was so gratifying! I met a few people while walking through the convention who came to see the movie who could not believe that the charismatic woman they had met a few hours ago was able to go to such deep and dark places! Best complement ever!!

The absolute icing on the cake from the whole experience was when we found out that “Caesar and Otto’s Paranormal Halloween” had won the festival award for “Best Comedy!” We had been advised that we should be in attendance for the award show but were unsure as to why. You can imagine our shock when we won an award! The director of the movie was so thrilled and excited that he started running around the room and even did a flip! He called me and the other actress, JoJo, up on stage to help him accept the award which is a memory that I will cherish forever! I am so proud to have been a part of such a fun and talented team so having an award for it just makes it that much more special!

No matter what you decide to do in life, put your heart and soul into it so that at the end of the day you can be proud of it. I am so proud to be representing this movie that I worked so hard on and I am over the moon with happiness from seeing how much viewers seem to have enjoyed it. The fact that we won the award for being the “Best Comedy” at the Miami Super Con was the icing the cake after a great weekend!
