With all of the encouraging Martin Luther King Jr. quotes and articles circulating the web lately in tribute to Martin Luther King Day along with the incredibly moving movie, “Selma,” being released to commemorate his journey and accomplishments, it’s hard to NOT feel motivated to chase your dreams! Martin Luther King acted as the leader to fight for a cause bigger than he was and understood that everyone had to come together to work for accomplishing what was truly important. Now, 50 years after his marches in Selma, Alabama, America continues to honor the man who lead the movements to bring America to a place of equality for all, regardless of the color of their skin or their gender.
Coming Together For Peace On Earth
It seems that recently we are unable to turn on the TV or listen to the news without hearing about the latest hate crime that’s been committed somewhere in our beautiful world. World Leaders have been coming together, calling for peace and an end to violent extremism because it has become very apparent that something needs to change. We need to step away from the notion that violence is an acceptable or justifiable means to solve anything and realize that only when the power of love overcomes the love of power can the world know peace. We need to embrace each other’s differences and love each other!
Tap Shoes
When one thinks of tap dance they may think “shoes that make a noise when you dance in them.” When I think of tap dance, I think of the instrument that has opened up my entire being and allowed me to express myself in ways that I never dreamed to be possible!
When I was younger, my life revolved around dancing. I competed in dance competitions regularly and I was even cast in Ireland’s equivalent to an Off-Broadway show! To this day, I can still remember the feeling I had when I’d get on that stage; an internal knowing that the stage was where I belonged.
