Serendipity

Everyone has their list of all-time favorite Holiday classics. “Love Actually,” “Elf,” “When Harry Met Sally,” the collection of heartwarming Holiday hits set in this time of year are endless. One film that always touches my heart is the romantic comedy, “Serendipity,” starring Kate Beckinsale and John Cusack. It’s a tale of fate, wonder and the power of love that will surely melt your heart this winter. You have to see it, trust me!

It’s a beautiful truth that all girls hold-on to powerful love stories, but it’s not even just the plot of this movie that I hold dear to my heart. The title, “Serendipity” is a unique word in itself, and not only because it sounds lovely!

Serendipity means “A fortunate accident.” If you take a second to reflect on the definition, I bet a lot of wonderful memories come to mind. That time something magical happened, when at first, it all appeared tragically wrong. I unexpectedly met my husband, for example, the day I decided to back my bags and move back to Ireland.  What I had pegged to be a defeat, turned out to be the most amazing day of my life!

Fate is a powerfully peculiar notion, and though I have experienced serendipity in love, I have yet to face it in my career. Each milestone I have reached has not been a product of fate, but a product of hard work! I have recently found myself back on the Red Carpet in LA, to receive a second award for my performance as ‘Kyla the Cook.’ Such a humbling experience to see my dedication pay-off and I am truly honored for my recognitions as both “Best Supporting Actress” and “Outstanding Femme Fatale.”

You often hear in this industry that someone had their “lucky break,” when they earn a large role, but it’s not about a bit of luck! Opportunities are created through perseverance and commitment, so always believe in yourself and your talents. Stay focused and driven and save serendipity for the movies!
