Preparing For My First Movie Role

Getting my first movie role has been such an amazing whirlwind. I am learning so much about my character and what makes her who she is while trying to learn all of my lines. It is a lot of fun escaping into the life of my character and being a “femme fatale.” It is a very fun role and my character, Kyla the chef, has so many deep layers that explain why she is the way she is.

It has been a wonderful and interesting learning experience getting to know Kyla and what she’s all about. It has also been a great learning experience trying to get off book, something I have never had to do. There are so many different methods to help actors learn lines so I spent a great deal of time researching the best methods and found a lot of interesting techniques. Hopefully I will be off book soon!

I have been fortunate enough to have some rehearsals with the director, Dave Campfield, as well! It was so great getting to show him how I interpreted Kyla and he really liked what I came up with. It was such a great experience getting to learn more about what Dave envisioned for Kyla’s character so that I could really make Kyla as real and true as possible.

The director LOVED the fact that I am Irish and from Ireland so he decided that Kyla would be Irish as well and I’ll get to keep my Irish accent for the film! He even added some back story to the film about Kyla being from Ireland, so I’m very excited to be able to bring that realness to the film. *Disclaimer: Not everything about Kyla’s Irish upbringing in the film is actually true for me personally!! You’ll see what I mean when you see the film ;)

As an actor’s work is never finished, I must get back to rehearsing now! I hope you all find the will and drive to chase your dreams and that my fellow actors book gigs in the near future! This has been a tremendous amount of fun and learning that I am so thankful to have. As always, I will be sharing this journey with all of my fans, so stay tuned for more blogs and updates! XO
