Old Hollywood Glam...on a Budget

Ladies, we all want to look like we’re walking the runway in a fierce look, so what’s stopping us?

I had the honors of walking in New York Fashion Week, hosted by the award winning magazine, “Uomo Moderno” as the featured Actress and Model of the show! My outfit is designed by the lovely Francesca Marotta who has a love of Old Hollywood Glam just like me!

Francesca Marotta is a Sicilian born fashion designer with a passion for fashion and continues to expand and inspire! Her talents have been recognized and her fashions were shown at both London Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week. She was even featured in Vogue Italia and British Vogue for her latest collection for Fall 2015, “Veni Vidi Vici.” I was overwhelmed with excitement for the opportunity to work with such an amazing designer!

Her latest collection, “Veni Vidi Vici” was inspired by her experience in Los Angeles during the summer months of 2014 as well a hint of Old Hollywood Glam. Growing up Marotta was inspired by great artists such as Alfred Hitchcock, Fred Astaire and Marlene Dietrich, who in fact motivated her to become a designer! She was inspired so much by these artists that she wanted to create a collection inspired by Hollywood’s Golden Era of Costume Designers. "This touches on my childhood dream of designing costumes for enormous casts in Hollywood,” she told Fashion Times last March. The magic of L.A with old cinemas’ lights, the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Hollywood sign all became a large inspiration for her latest collection.

For this collection, she incorporated many different fabrics to create a strong yet soft look for women. She uses a ‘hairy’ fabric in many of her designs because it represents edginess and sexiness while still being feminine at the same time. She has a love for fabrics so she incorporated many into her new collection such as silk, wool and lace. This collection is wearable for any woman and can easily be taken from a daytime to evening look.

I was also fortunate enough to have my photo-shoot by celebrity photographer, Inna Race, who helped me look fierce and fabulous! But we all can look fierce and fabulous everyday when we aren’t walking the runway. We can use the walk to our car or to the grocery store as an excuse to strut out stuff!
